The Robin Hood Association (RHA) is a non-profit organization that empowers people with developmental disabilities to live their best lives. Nearly 60 years ago, the Association was founded in Strathcona County by parents who couldn't find services for their children with disabilities. It is now one of the largest non-profit organizations in Alberta.

The Community Disability Worker (CDW) is a critical front-line position where you will work alongside people with disabilities to encourage and fulfill their goals, objectives and aspirations. We hire enthusiastic people who are willing to:

• Develop healthy relationships and positive interactions.

• Help individuals with disabilities complete daily tasks, while encouraging independence and positive choices. You may be required to assist with personal care and medication administration.

• Encourage individuals to pursue healthy living, fitness, recreational activities and positive behaviors.

• Assist individuals with disabilities to achieve their full potential in employment, social, community, and residential environments.

• Provide professional and timely communication to families, parents, staff, government and supervisors.

Do you have?

• A positive attitude

• Ability to support persons with disabilities

• Grade 12 or equivalent

• Some experience or training working in the Community Disability Services field

• Valid driver’s license and vehicle (useful in many positions)

• For positions in Children & Youth Services:

  • Do you know how to PLAY?

The Community Disability Practitioner (CDP) is an experienced individual who provides direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will also participate in assessment, person-centered planning, and plan implementation. There may be some supervision/co-ordination of other staff. We hire enthusiastic people who are willing to:

• Develop healthy relationships and model positive interactions.

• Help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to complete daily tasks, while encouraging independence and positive choices. You may assist with personal care and medication administration.

• Encourage individuals with more complex issues to pursue healthy living, fitness, recreational activities and positive behaviors.

• Assist individuals to achieve their full potential in employment, social, community, and residential environments.

• Provide professional and timely communication to families, parents, staff, government and supervisors.

• Informally mentor other staff in your areas of strength.

Do you have?

• A positive attitude

• Ability to support persons with disabilities

• Diploma or formal education in the Community Disability Services field

• Experience working in and/or specialized training in related areas

• Strong organizational skills

• Valid driver’s license and vehicle (useful in many positions)

The Team Leader is an experienced individual who provides primary supervision to front line staff. Service plans for those with more complex disabilities, coordination of assessments, person-centered planning, and plan implementation is done. We hire proven, enthusiastic professionals who are willing to:

• Motivate staff and co-workers in their professional growth.

• Oversee staff assisting individuals to complete daily tasks, while encouraging independence and positive choices.

• Encourage individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to pursue healthy living, fitness, recreational activities and positive behaviors.

• Assist individuals to achieve their full potential in employment, social, community, and residential environments through the development of person centered support plans.

• Provide professional and timely communication to families, parents, staff, government and supervisors.

• Mentor and lead your team.

Do you have?

• A positive attitude and ability to motivate others

• Skill in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and those you supervise

• Diploma or degree in the Community Disability Services field

• Progressive experience working with more complex disabled individuals and other specialized training

• Supervisory experience and organizational ability

• Valid driver’s license and vehicle (useful in many positions)

• For positions in Children & Youth Services:

  • Teaching creativity and PLAY

  • Ability to motivate and train a typically, younger, part-time and casual group of staff

  • Progressive experience and training in relation to children’s issues (e.g. FASD)

The Coordinator provides operational leadership for a specific set of services. Developing processes, monitoring, budget oversight, community liaison, and coordination are key areas of responsibility. We hire proven, enthusiastic professionals who are willing to:

• Model and mentor others to develop positive, healthy relationships

• Motivate staff in their professional growth

• Align stakeholder goals with programming requirements and processes

• Evaluate existing programs and implement needed changes

• Coordinate, plan and oversee recreational, social, employment and community based programs

• Provide professional and timely communication to families, parents, staff, government and Leadership

Do you have?

• Leadership, vision and motivational skills

• Ability to communicate professionally in verbal, written and report form

• Team building, coaching and mediation skills

• Degree (Master’s preferred) in the Community Disability Services field

• Management, prioritizing, decision making and implementation skills

• Proven skills in program development with outcome based results

• Exposure or understanding of community resources

• For positions in Children & Youth Services:

  • Progressively responsible experience and training relating to children’s developmental and behavioral issues

  • Ability to motivate and train a typically, younger, part-time and casual group of staff
